Hosmer is a volunteer at the USO center at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, and was selected as the 2021 USO Southeast Region Volunteer of the Year. She joins a list of USO volunteers nominated from across the globe to include Korea, Bavaria, Delaware, Kansas, Indiana and Arizona who are also being recognized by their respective regions. As we begin 2021, we look forward to continuing our virtual programming in combination with in-person events, ceremonies, and support for our service members and their families. It is not funded by the government; it is run by hundreds of employees and volunteers around the world. The waiting list to volunteer at the CLT USO has about 125 names on it. Winners were selected based on results from the annual TellUSO Sound Off Survey, which was completed by more than 16,000 service members and their families worldwide in the fall of 2012. By asking service members and their families to evaluate the usefulness of USO services, they can identify areas for improvement and help set priorities. The awards honor USO Centers for their commitment and service to America’s service members and military families.
